Reference

For my lipsync animation i wanted to focus on character staging, acting and performance to achieve my concept idea for the flow of the animation. I look for reference from Gollum from Lord Of The Rings and Joker from Batman - The Dark Knight. The reason why was because both characters portray mental illness in their own aspects Gollum which was schizophrenic the Joker sadist and psychopathic which suited for my character for the animation.

Lipsync idea

I used the " I'm a nice man " voice over with an idea to develop a psychopathic character. To put a twist and more interesting visualization from my point of view. The voice over for the audio clip
suited my idea as it says;

"I'm a nice man, I mind my own business, and you tell me that's that, before i beat the hell from you."

the idea i had in mind for this animation was to put the character in a dark room with one spotlight to focus on the character to create the atmosphere that i wanted to project. To enhance the suspense of the audio I added the Bioshock version of " Jesus loves me " at the start to achieve the psychopathic feel for the animation.

Character Posing ICA

Character posing exercise

The purpose of this exercise was to understand the art of posing, staging, and the line of action character depending on the message the animator wants to send to the audience. Also to get used to the rig that we were provided so that we could understand the characteristics of the rig later in the next ICA where we would have to animate the character.

We were given a few titles to work on which were.
  • Full bladder

  • Whats under there
  • Dance to impress
